• Kelcey Rondell Porter, 33, of Dearborn, Mich., was arrested on June 5 in Logan County by West Virginia State Police Troopers J.K. Harris and J.J. Weaver for being a felon in possession of a firearm charges. He was booked at the Southwestern Regional Jail in Holden at 4:15 a.m.
• Dewayen Justin George, 26, residence not listed, was arrested by the WVSP for possession of a controlled substance on June 5. He was booked at the regional jail at 5:56 a.m.
According to police reports, the troopers received an anonymous tip about “two black males dealing narcotics suspected to be crack cocaine, from the King’s Towers Apartments in Omar.
"Information received indicated the two suspects were staying with an individual known as Muffin," the report states. "Investigation later revealed Muffin’s true identity as Dewayen Justin George. Additionally, the black male suspects were reported to be driving a white Cadillac with out-of-state registration. The vehicle was reported to be backed into a parking spot at the King’s Towers Apartments."
The officers found the car was registered to Porter and attempted to make contact with him in the apartment.
"Upon announcing 'State Police' these officers heard what appeared to be suspects fleeing from the residence,” the report states. “Upon gaining entry, statements were obtained from George and another witness who confirmed two male suspects had jumped from a second-story balcony of the residence and fled from these officers on foot. Further investigation resulted in the discovery of a .45 caliber pistol in a bedroom from which the suspects fled. These officers later located the two male suspects in the Omar area."
When the two refused to halt a foot chase ensued.
After a chase, the officers caught Porter. The search incident to the arrest resulted in the discovery of $1,535 from the shoe of the accused.
Further investigation revealed the pistol discovered at the residence belonged Porter.
Additional investigations revealed Porter had a felony conviction in 1996 for possession of illegal drugs and manufacture/possession of a controlled substance near a park/housing project from Georgia.
Porter also had two felony convictions from Michigan for carrying a concealed weapon and felony weapons violations.
• Sonja Renee Napier, 39, of Chapmanville, was arrested by WVSP Tpr. J.D. Hensley and members of the U.S. 119 Drug and Violent Crime Task Force for possession and delivery of a controlled substance and prescription fraud on May 4. She was booked at the regional jail at 5 p.m.
• Sonya Mae Wilson, 45, of Logan, was arrested in Logan County by the WVSP for possession of a controlled substance on May 4. She was booked at the regional jail at 4:50 p.m.
According to a task force officer, some members of the task force were eating at a local restaurant when they observed a drug transaction take place.
The police report said Wilson was in an intoxicated state in the parking lot of the restaurant, when task force members allegedly saw her approach Napier and the two females allegedly engaged in an apparent drug deal.
The two females were then approached at which time marijuana was discovered in the possession of the accused, the police report states.
The second complaint on Napier says she was found to be in possession of two social security cards that contained the same social security number with a different name listed on each card.
Members of the task force then conducted a board of Pharmacy check on Napier at which time it was discovered the accused had obtained hydrocodone prescriptions from two separate doctors.
On April 25, under the name Sonya Napier the accused reportedly received a hydrocodone prescription from one doctor and on April 27 she allegedly received another hydrocodone prescription from a different doctor under the name Sonya Barker.
• Jon Dewitt Turner Jr. 53, of Logan, was arrested by Tpr. J.J. Weaver for assault, battery, destruction of property and possession of a controlled substance on June 3. He was booked at the regional jail at 8:37 p.m.
Despite the similarity of names he was definitely not the Logan County Clerk, noted Magistrate Leonard Codisopotti.
According to police reports, the WVSP responded to a fight call in Whitman and were told that Turner allegedly went to the victim's residence and demanded money, leading to an altercation.
"The accused punched the victim in the chest and attempted to force his way into the victim's residence," the report states. "The accused then threw a flower pot through the victim's living room window."
The officers were allegedly told Turner was waiting for them at the station, where, upon their arrival, Turner allegedly told them that he did commit these acts. Turner then told police that he had a small amount of marijuana in his hat, the report said.
• Kevin Ray Evans, 35, of Amherstdale, was arrested by Sgt. W.D. Walls and Patrolman J.A. Watkins of the Man Police Department for DUI (on drugs) causing bodily injury and obstructing an officer on June 8. He was booked at the regional jail at 6:20 p.m.
