Homes were destroyed, vehicles were washed away and roads were swamped under mud and debris.
Many homes suffered heavy flooding with water several feet high inside.
Stores were destroyed or badly damaged.
The flooding affects us all.
That’s why we’re so thankful that the Youthworks group was here to lend a hand when the flood cleanup started.
We are appreciative of all the help the Youthworks kids do each summer, helping needy people with home improvements and repairs.
But, this year, they are playing an even more important role as they help people get their lives back to normal.
Without the Youthworks boys and girls, people who can’t do all the shoveling and digging out would have to wait for help from the national guard or a neighbor. Now, though, the Youthworks members are helping clean out basements and houses so that flood victims can start the rebuilding process.
We thank all the volunteers who have helped our people in their time of need. Flooding can, in minutes, destroy what has taken a lifetime to build. We’re glad that the smiling faces of the Youthworks program were here to lift our people up, dust them off and help them get back on their feet again.
