The Thirteenth Annual National Children's Memorial Flag Day was throughout the county to bring awareness of child abuse and neglect.
The attractive flag graphically depicts that we, as a nation, must combat this senseless loss of children to preventable acts.
The ceremony was conducted at the Logan County Courthouse. The Pledge of Allegiance and several songs were led by the Justice Pre-K class. The Honorable Judge Eric O'Briant read the Proclamation signed by Governor Joe Machin III proclaiming April 23, 2010 as Children's Memorial Flag Day. The Honorable Judge Roger Perry and The Honorable Jason Harwood presented awards the Social Service's staff and Youth Service's staff for their dedication to the children and youth of Logan County. The Honorable Judge Kelly Codispoti presented the Social Worker award to Melissa Muenich, Beth Cook CAC Director presented the Community Service award to Debrina Williams and Rebecca Farmer, DHHR presented the Volunteer award to Serena McGuire.
This year's award recipients show outstanding leadership in making a difference in the lives of children in Logan County.
