HORSEPEN, W.Va. — Reverend Donald Ray “Butch” Thompson, 51, of Horsepen, passed away Monday, June 21, 2010 at St. Francis Hospital in Charleston following a long illness.

Born September 19, 1958, in South Williamson, Ky., he was a son of the late Donald Ray and Ruby Hatfield Thompson.

Butch was a disabled coal miner, and a member of the Justice Tabernacle. He loved fishing, golfing, sports, and riding his motorcycle.

Survivors include his wife, Patricia “Trish” Thompson; one daughter, Cindi Thompson (DJ) Glasscock of Horsepen; one son, Chris Thompson of Bluefield; one grandson, Dylan Glasscock of Horsepen: One granddaughter, Cheyanne Glasscock of Horsepen, and one brother, Mark (Beth) Thompson of Horsepen.

Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, June 25, at the Justice Tabernacle with Rev. Lowell Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Thompson Family Cemetery at Horsepen.

Serving as pallbearers will be Chris Thompson, Mark Thompson, DJ Glasscock, Keith Carter, Chad Mullins, Caleb Lester, Josh Duty, and Justin Likens.

Honorary pallbearers will be Rev. Randall Staton, Rev. Garfield Hatfield, Rev. C.D. Wolford, Rev. Diamond Carter and Rev. Conley Goad,

Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. Thursday at tabernacle.

Fanning Funeral Home of Iaeger is assisting the Thompson family.
