11-12 all-star tourney begins Saturday at Man

MAN – The 7-8-year-old and 9-10-year-old tournaments have already been played.

Now it’s time for the main event.

The 11-12-year-old District 2 Tournament.

Action begins in the eight-team tourney on Saturday at Man’s Tommy Keffer Field as host Man plays Madison at 10 a.m. in the opener. Then at noon, Chapmanville takes on Welch. At 2 p.m., Holden plays Mullens. Then at 4 p.m., Oceana and Pineville are set to meet.

Pool play then continues on the Fourth of July as Holden takes on Chapmanville at 1 p.m., Logan battles with Mullens at 3 p.m., Madison plays Pineville at 5 and Man squares off with Oceana at 7.

Then after an off day on Monday, action resumes on Tuesday with two games. Chapmanville plays Logan at 6 p.m. in the first game and Holden then plays Welch at 7:30 in the nightcap.

On Wednesday night, it’s Chapmanville vs. Mullens at 6 p.m. and Logan vs. Welch at 7:30.

Pool play continues next Thursday, July 8 as Logan plays rival Holden at 6 p.m. and Madison squares off with Oceana at 7:30 p.m.

Then on Friday, July 9, Man plays Pineville at 6 p.m. and Mullens takes on Welch at 7:30 in the pool play finale.

Next Saturday, July 10, will then have two district co-championship games play at 2 and 4 p.m. The two winners then advance to the upcoming state tournament at Ceredo-Kenova. Logan, which went all the way to the state tournament semifinals in ‘09, is looking to make it to the state tourney for the eighth straight year.

Omar, Logan County’s fifth Little League, is not fielding a team in this year’s 11-12 district tournament.
