LOGAN, W.Va. — Hurston Lee Pritchard, 60, of Logan, departed this life Thursday, August 5, 2010, at Logan Regional Medical Center.

Born February 14, 1950, at Chapmanville, he was a son of Dorothy Jeffrey Pritchard of Logan and the late Robert Pritchard. Also preceding him in death was his very special companion, Lloyd Goble.

Hurston was a veteran of the U.S. Army and of the Church of God of Prophecy faith. He was employed at Golden Coral in Portsmouth, Ohio, for many years. Hurston also enjoyed volunteering regularly at the Logan Presbyterian Church food pantry and helping his friends and family in any way he could.

Additional survivors include four brothers, Cletis Pritchard of Wilkinson, Troy (Bobbie) Pritchard of Taylor, Mich., Jerry Pritchard of Trenton, Mich., and Sonny (Laura) Pritchard of Proctorville, Ohio; three sisters, Barbara Browning and Linda (Jerry) Griffith, both of Logan, and Alma Gail Starkey of St. Petersburg, Fla.; two special cousins, Janet Craft of Logan and Lohoma Gray of Columbus, Ohio; his very special friends, Lillian Tomblin and Patsy Robinson; his very special dog, Janice, and a host of nieces and nephews.

Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday, August 9, at the Church of God of Prophecy on Pine Street in Logan. Entombment will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery Mausoleum with Military Graveside Rites.

Pallbearers will be Sonny Pritchard, Cletis Pritchard, Jerry Pritchard, Cletis Pritchard Jr., Charles Pritchard, Trey Pritchard and Jerry Griffith.

Visitation will begin after 6 p.m. today at the church.
