Local law enforcement officers have arrested out-of-state person believed to be dealing drugs in Logan County.

• DaSean G. Brown, 19, of Columbus, Ohio, was arrested in Logan County by West Virginia State Police Troopers J.J. Weaver and B.A. Lowe for possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver and conspiracy to commit a felony on August 4. He was booked at the Southwestern Regional Jail at Holden at 1:53 a.m.

According to police reports, on August 3, the troopers initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle that had a headlight out.

The report said that during the traffic stop, one of the officers detected the odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle.

The report said the officer then asked for and gained consent to search the vehicle.

While conducting a search for weapons, the report said, the officer felt what he thought was a large amount of cash on the person of the accused, and, after retrieving the cash, Brown was taken to the cruiser to talk about the amount of cash he had on him. Other officers then arrived on the scene to assist with the search.

An undercover member of the U.S. 119 Drug and Violent Crime Task Force arrived to assist and advised Brown of his rights, the report said.

The report said Brown allegedly gave a statement to the undercover officer and Tpr. Lowe that he had been selling marijuana and gambling. The report said he told the officers he had sold about a pound of marijuana and made about $3,500 in cash and the rest was from gambling.

When the undercover officer asked Brown if he had any drugs on his person, he reportedly said "no." When the officer searched Brown he "found a bag of white powder in his right shoe."

Over the summer months several Ohio and Michigan residents have been arrested on charges of drug dealing locally.

In other law enforcement news, a drug tip led to a different kind of arrest.

• Chris Bartram, 52, of Mallory, was arrested by Man Police Chief David Walls and Logan County Sheriff's Deputy Terry Brumfield for driving on a revoked license and driving left of center on Aug. 3. He was booked at the regional jail at 7:40 p.m.
