The Buffalo Creek Memorial Library, in conjunction with their Summer Reading Program, "Make a Splash", recently had Pirate Day at the Library. A suprise visit was made by Captain Cook and his buccaneers after they spotted the Jolly Roger flag that was raised by the teen class. A treasure map was studied by the children and the treasure chest was located by the crew and the loot was shared with everyone. This was part of a six week children's program to encourage children to read over the summer months to help maintain their reading level. Seventy four children enrolled for the program and, along with parents, the average attendance was 70 people. The fun concluded with a "Splash" held at the Man pool courtesy of the Town of Man along with a pizza party courtesy of the Friends of the Library. The theme for next year's program is "One World, Many Stories", enrollment will begin June 1, 2011. Construction of the new children's addition to the library will begin in August with completion expected by January 2011. Watch for their open house.
