Local police jailed a man on several charges after making a routine traffic stop on his vehicle.

Robert Dale Frye, 65, of Harts, was arrested by Logan Police Patrolman Mark Dickerson for transferring and receiving stolen property, no insurance, speeding and obstructing an officer on Aug. 14. He was booked at the regional jail at 2:15 p.m.

According to police reports, the officer saw a green GMC Sonoma pickup truck turn onto Main Street at a high rate of speed.

The officer said in the report that the left brake light was out and the exhaust was smoking heavily. Dickerson pulled the truck over and asked Frye for his license and registration.

“Frye stated he borrowed the truck from a friend,” the report states, adding, “Frye was also found to have a known prostitute in the vehicle with him during the traffic stop.”

When the officer checked with Logan County 911, he was informed the tags on the vehicle were registered as stolen from the Lincoln detachment of the West Virginia State Police.

Frye reportedly kept saying the truck belonged to someone else, but Officer Dickerson reportedly learned that Frye is the owner of the vehicle and had been stopped by WVSP Trooper Lowe on Aug. 3 with a registration plate which was not on file with the West Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles and was also issued a citation for no insurance.
