WILKINSON, W.Va. — Elias Aley Meade, 84, of Wilkinson, passed away Tuesday, October 23, 2012, at the St. Francis Hospital in Charleston.

Born May 5, 1928, in Lincoln County, he was a son of the late Elva and Virgie Williamson Meade. Also preceding him in death was his son, Alex Wayne Meade; sister, Martha Jane Kirk, and three brothers, Lewis, Gartha and Wallace Meade.

Aley was a retired timber contractor.

Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Josephine Maynard Meade; two sons, Gartha and Michael (Lucille) Meade, both of Wilkinson; one daughter, Kaye (John) Turley of Hurricane; one grandson, Nicholas Meade of Lewisburg; two granddaughters, Jodie (Cliff) Bain of Ashland, Ky., and Kayla (Wes) Robertson of Man; brother, B.F. (Della) MEade of Princeton; one sister, Patsy Stroud of Breeden; two sisters-in-law, Helen Meade of Harts and Jean Meade of Wilkinson, and his loving companion, his dog Lacy.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, October 25, at the James Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Phillip Stroud officiating. Burial will follow in Baby Meade Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Nephews will serve as pallbearers.
