Wildcats tied for 19th in the state in this week’s ratings

If the Logan High School football team wants to advance to the Class AAA playoffs the Wildcats are going to have to win at Scott on Friday night in the regular season finale.

Logan (6-3) is tied for 19th in the state with Parkersburg South (5-4) in this week’s WVSSAC Class AAA Computer Ratings.

The top 16 squads in each of the state’s three classes qualify for the playoffs which begin Nov. 9.

Logan’s opponent, Scott, is 7-2 and ranked No. 6 in the state this week in Double-A.

The Wildcats are searching for their third straight Triple-A playoff appearance and the fifth overall post-season berth under nine-year head coach Gary Mullins.

Cabell Midland (9-0) remains No. 1 in the state this week in 3A. The Knights have 16.78 ratings points and lead No. 2 Martinsburg, which is 9-1 and has a 14.30 rating.

Huntington (8-1) is third, George Washington (7-2) fourth, Morgantown (7-2) fifth, University (8-2) sixth, Spring Valley (6-3) seventh, Elkins (7-2) eighth, Hurricane (6-3) ninth and Capital (6-3) 10th. Musselman (6-3) is 11th, Point Pleasant (7-2) and Wheeling Park (6-3) are tied for 12th, Lewis County (7-2) is 14th, Beckley Woodrow Wilson (6-4) is 15th and South Charleston (6-4) 16th.

In Class AA, defending state champion Wayne (9-0) remains in first with a 12.00 rating. The Pioneers are tied this week with Keyser (8-1). Bridgeport (7-2) is third, Bluefield (8-1) fourth, Robert C. Byrd (9-1) fifth, Scott (7-2) sixth, Frankfort (7-2) seventh, Nicholas County (6-3) eighth and Ritchie County (6-3) and Roane County (6-3) are tied for ninth. Wy0ming East (6-3) is 11th, Summers County (6-3) 12th, Braxton County (5-4) 13th, Clay County (5-4) and Westside (5-4) are tied for 14th and Sissonville (5-4) is 16th.

In the Class A ratings, Tucker County (9-0) is on top with an 11.22 rating. Magnolia (8-1) is second with 10.00 points. Wahama (9-0) is third, Greenbrier West (9-1) fourth, Weirton Madonna (8-1) fifth, St. Marys (8-1) sixth, Clay-Battelle (8-1) seventh, Valley Fayette (8-1) eighth, East Hardy (8-1) ninth and Buffalo (7-2) 10th. Wheeling Central Catholic (7-3) is 11th, Meadow Bridge (8-2) 12th, Wirt County (6-3) 13th, Tug Valley (7-2) 14th and Bishop Donahue (6-3) and Moorefield (5-4) are knotted at 15th.
