LOGAN – A man suspected of shooting his girlfriend’s stepfather on Christmas Day is still at large as his victim remains in critical condition in the hospital.

The names of those involved have been released, Mack Brumfield had an altercation with his girlfriend, Sunshine Vance. Vance called her aunt, Darlie Gearhart, to come and get her. Gearheart brought Vance’s stepfather, Kenny Tomblin, with her.

Witnesses told deputies Tomblin and Brumfield were arguing when Brumfield pulled out a gun and shot Tomblin four or five times, then ran off into the woods.

Tomblin was transported to Logan Regional Medical Center and was able to tell authorities it was Brumfield who shot him. Tomblin was then taken to Charleston Regional Medical Center, where reports say he underwent surgery on Wednesday. He remains in critical condition.

Logan County Sheriff Sonya Porter says deputies are following up on all leads and the department is still actively looking for Brumfield.

Brumfield is considered armed and dangerous. If anyone has information as to the whereabouts of Mack Brumfield, please contact the Logan County Sheriff’s Department immediately at 304-792-8590 or the Logan County 911 Center.
