HOLDEN, W.Va. — Claudis Bennett Gibson, 91, formerly of Holden, went to be with our Lord Tuesday, January 15, 2013, at Midland Meadows at Ona.

Born November 23, 1921, at Louisa, Ky., he was a son of the late William and Frances Ellen Cox Gibson. Also preceding him in death was his wife of 51 years, Ruby Leeta Walsh Gibson.

Mr. Gibson was a retired electrician with both Island Creek and Amherst Coal companies for over 42 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving and seeing action in both the European and Pacific Theaters from 1941-1945 on board the Navy Destroyer Escort U.S.S. Roy O’Hale

Survivors include one son, Barry Lynn (Jackie) Gibson; daughters, Mae Ellen (Gomer) Bradley, Ruby Claudine (Hassel) Ferrell, Ruth Ann (Terry) Daniels, and Sharon Sue (Donald) Sizemore, 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, January 19, at Honaker Funeral Home in Logan. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens at Godby with Military Graveside Rites.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
