ROSSMORE, W.Va. — Jack Junior Blankenship, 62, of Rossmore, departed this life Friday, December 14, 2012, at his residence.

Born October 6, 1950, in Holden, he was a son of Madeline Blankenship Baisden of Rossmore and the late Lawrence Blankenship. Also preceding him in death were his brothers, Geary Wayne and Charlie Edward Blankenship; step-father, Thurmond Baisden, and step-sister, Oretha Baisden.

Jack was 1968 graduate of Logan High School, a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corp serving in Okinawa, Japan, Camp Lejeune, N.C., and California, and a mechanic for several years in the Logan area.

In addition to his mother, those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Merry Carol Blankenship; two sons, Geoffrey (Rachel) Blankenship of Lavalette and Jack Junior II (Audrey) Blankenship of Sunbeam; one daughter, Lucy (C.R.) Cook of Rossmore; four grandchildren, Jackie Lynn and Ryan Albert of Sunbeam, and Shane Michael and Kennadee Yvonne of Rossmore, and one step-son, Matthew Adams of Mitchell Heights.

Jack was laid to rest at the Whitman Cemetery at Crooked Creek.
