SWITZER, W.Va. — Mr. Dana T. Napier Sr., 78, of Switzer, departed this life Wednesday, January 30, 2013, in Mingo County.

Born June 28, 1934, at Maysburg, he was a son of the late Charles Henry and Vada Mae Browning Napier. Also preceding him in death was his brother, Hascal Ray Napier; sister, Audrey Harrison, and grandson, Brad Bowens.

Mr. Napier was a member Nighbert Memorial United Methodist Church where he was a former Trustee, Financial Teller, and member of the Pastor Appreciation Trustee. He was also a member of the Aracoma Lodge No. 99 at Logan, a 32nd Degree KCCH Scottish Rite Mason, member of the Beni Kedem Shrine Temple at Charleston, 50 year member, and York Rite. Mr. Napier was a Federal Mine Inspector, was the General Superintendent of Wolf Creek Colliers and served in the National Guard.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Betty Hunter Napier; children, Tammie (Terry) Bowens of Waynesboro, Va., and Dana T. “Scott” (Margaret) Napier of Riverview, Fla.; grandchildren, Jennifer (Justin) Bates of Morrow, Ohio, and Michelle (P.D.) Lowe of Yolyn; great-grandchildren, Dylen Bates, Hannah Bates, Taylor Lowe and Joseph Lowe; a special cousin, Bill R. Browning; several special nieces and nephews, and a host of family and friends.

Memorial Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Sunday, February 3, at Nighbert Memorial United Methodist Church with Rev. Tom Beckett officiating. In keeping with his wishes, his body will be cremated.

Evans Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Chapmanville is in charge of arrangements.
