The Logan High School boys’ basketball team continued its slide on Tuesday night with a 69-66 loss at Parkersburg.

Logan (6-11) has now dropped three straight games and five out of its last six.

Parkersburg improved to 8-12 with the win.

The Wildcats led 17-13 after one quarter, 27-25 at the half and 44-40 after three but were outscored 29-22 by the Big Reds in the fourth quarter as Parkersburg won by three.

Dru Aldridge poured in 21 points to lead Parkersburg, while Ben Umpleby had 19.

Zak Miller paced the Wildcats with a 14-point game. Worm Street had 13 and A.J. Reynolds 12. C.J. Williams added seven points for Logan, while Trent Dalton tossed in six. Z. Minnick had five, T.J. Tomblin four, Chase Preston three and Josh Rein two.

Logan was scheduled to play its second game in three days with Wednesday night’s contest against Winfield in the Shootout at the Big House at the Charleston Civic Center.

The Cats then play its third straight game in as many days with Thursday night’s 8:30 p.m. contest at home against Class AA Tolsia. The Logan girls take on rival Chapmanville in the first game at 7 p.m. at Willie Akers Arena.

The Wildcats then close out with three games — Saturday at Class A No. 1 Tug Valley, Feb. 19 at George Washington and Feb. 21 at home against Capital in the regular season finale and last home game.

Mingo Central 52,

Chapmanville 51

NEWTOWN — Mingo Central finished 2-0 this season against the Chapmanville Regional High School boys’ basketball team after knocking off the Tigers 52-51 on Tuesday night at Newtown.

The Miners won with five seconds left when Stevie Hammond hit the game-winning shot. Austin Banks was the top scorer on the night for Mingo Central as he netted 19 points.

Mackenzie Martin paced the Tigers with 18 points.

The Miners had won 58-51 in overtime early in the season at Chapmanville.

Mingo Central, coached by first-year mentor and former longtime Logan High School assistant coach Brad Napier, improved to 10-8 with the victory.

Chapmanville heads to Wayne on Friday, then hosts Sissonville Saturday night as part of a Cardinal Conference boys/girls doubleheader with the CRHS Lady Tigers. It will be Senior Night for both teams. The girls’ game has a 6 p.m. tip time with the boys’ game to follow around 8 p.m.
