DAVIN — A relationship described as “on again-off again” ended when a gun was fired on February 17.

George Bowens, 36, of Mallory, was found dead inside the residence of Venus Parton, who alleges Bowens broke into her residence and she shot him in self-defense.

The shooting took place just before noon at Davin on Huff Creek, four miles outside Man. The 911 call came in at 11:40 a.m. When police arrived at the scene, they found Bowen’s body.

The case is still under investigation to verify the facts of the shooting. Police say the couple had a history of domestic violence, including many incidents that became heated.

Charges could be filed if police determine Parton did not act in self defense. Police are processing the crime scene and gathering evidence about the relationship between Bowen and Parton.
