CHAPMANVILLE, W.Va. — James Willard Ball, 62, of Chapmanville, departed this life Sunday, April 22, 2012, at his residence.

Born February 2, 1950, he was a son of the late Willard “Webo” and Betty Ball. Also preceding him in death were his grandparents, Andrew and Margarette Charcandy, James Edward Ball and Effie Mae Hager.

James was in the U.S. Army for two years, worked in the coal mines for 35 years and a member of the UMWA. He loved riding motorcycles, doing charity work in the community and going to church.

Those left to cherish his memory include his daughter, Tammy Ball of Cape Coral, Fla.; the mother of his daughter, Lois Ball of Ottawa, and his uncles and aunts, Peg Thompson and Donald “Tom” (Peggy) Charcandy, both of Madison, Arthur “Buck” Charcandy of Elyria, Ohio, Effie Spencer of Augusta, Ga., Janet McCormick of Virginia, Jack (Judy) Charcandy of Danville, Robert “Robin” (Sherry) Charcandy of Camp Creek, Judy (John) Norvell of Flatwoods, Dottie McVey of Georgia, Gloria “Kitten” Berger of Charleston and Lana “Angie” Charcandy of Foster.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 28, at Freeman Funeral Home with Chad Neil officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens at Low Gap.

Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be family and friends.

Freeman Funeral Home of Chapmanville is in charge of the arrangements.
