HARRISON SHEPPARD
ROSSMORE, W.Va. — Harrison Sheppard, 72, of Rossmore, went home to be with the Lord Friday, April 27, 2012.
Born July 13, 1939, in Ragland, he was the youngest of 11 children born to the late Lewis and Bessie Sheppard. Also preceding him in death was an infant son, Wallace Dewayne Sheppard; one grandchild, Meagan Renee Allen; two sisters, Florence Dyer and his baby sister with who he shared a deep bond, Martha Hensley, and eight brothers Ernest Pack, and John L., Tommy, Frank, Wayne, Fred, Willis, and Howard Sheppard.
Harrison was a member of the Son of Life Freewill Baptist Church at Godby Heights. He will always be loved and missed by so many. He enjoyed making people laugh and smile with his endless jokes. Harrison loved spending time with his family and attending football games when he could. He also had a tremendous love for his best buddy, his Chihuahua Hershey, who will miss him dearly.
Survivors include his loving and devoted wife and best friend of 31 years whom he loved more than anything, Joyce Ann Sheppard; three sons, Harrison Michael Sheppard of Rossmore, Matthew (Kristen) Bryant of Columbia II, and Tony Deer of Rossmore; three daughters, Tonia Renee (Roy) Marsingill of Whitman, Donna (Susie) Sheppard and Bessie Sheppard, both Toledo, Ohio; 22 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 1, in the James Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Roger Mills officiating. His body will be cremated following the services.
Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Honorary pallbearers will be his grandson whom he loved dearly, Jakey, and Jimmy and Joey Sheppard, Ryan, Brandon and Beau Allen and Perry Graves and Kenneth Abbott.
For only you maybe gone in body, but you shall never be gone in spirit. We all love you forever.
