BETTY PORTER

DANVILLE, W.Va. — Betty Sue Porter, 65, of Danville, went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, May 16, 2012, at her home.

Born March 11, 1947, she was a daughter of the late Van Don and Elizabeth Slade Lambert. Also preceding her in death was her sister, Jewel L. Carte; brothers, Joe W. Lambert and Donald Ray Lambert, and nephew, Timothy Wayne Lambert.

Betty was a W.Va. Department of Health and Human Resources Child Advocacy Team Leader and retired after 20 years of service. She loved to cook and sing and was a member of Bible Baptist Church of Danville.

Survivors include her loving husband of 39 years, Harold; sons, Jon (Darleen) Porter of Logan and Matt (Bethany) of Charleston; grandchildren, Nash and Darby; brother, William “Bill” Lambert of Hurricane, and sisters, Evelyn L. Cornell of Cross Lanes and Ruth L. (Jim) Wright of Charleston.

At her request, her body was donated to the WVU Human Gift Registry at Morgantown to help with the continuation of medical research.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 26, at Bible Baptist Church with Pastor John Barker officiating.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Relay for Life/Boone County, 1700 MacCorkle Avenue S.E. 3rd Floor, Charleston, WV 25314.
