RICHARD WILSON
HAMPDEN, W.Va. — Richard “Dick” Cecil Wilson, 85, of Hampden, passed away Sunday, August 5, 2012 at Logan Regional Medical Center.
Born July 9, 1927, at Hartwell, he was a son of the late John Edward and Octavia Sarah Lester Wilson. Also preceding him in death was a sister, Thursa Blankenship; brother, Amos Wilson, and a daughter-in-law, Syvilla Wilson.
Dick was a retired coal miner, employed as an electrician with Island Creek Coal Company. He attended Justice Tabernacle and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.
Dick was a wonderful husband, loving father, special grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, going to the camp in Monroe County with his family and his two dogs, Boone and Hunter. His love for life and people will remain forever in the hearts of all who knew him. He will be missed by his family and friends.
Survivors include his loving wife of 60 years, Ruby Neace Wilson; two daughters, Clairene (Oliver) Bailey of Hampden and Angela (Troy) Lockhart of North Spring; three sons, Larry (Linda) Wilson of Hampden, Danny Wilson of Danville and Mark Wilson of Charleston; four sisters, Lucy Lester of Verner, Susie LeFevers of Justice, Loretta Lawson of Charleston, S.C., and Sharon (Arnold) Addair of Danville, Ohio; brother, Thomas A. (Linda) Wilson of Huntsville, Ala.; eight grandchildren, Bethany, Haven, Austin, Jeremy, Beverly, Haylea, Logan and Paige; seven great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Catherine Wilson of Charleston; several nieces and nephews and a host of other dear relatives and friends.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, August 9, at the Mounts Funeral Home with Rev. Gerald Marsingill and Rev. Lloyd Mullins officiating. Burial will be in the Wilson Cemetery at Justice.
Pallbearers will be Jeremy Wilson, Haven Bailey, Austin Bailey, Troy Lockhart, Kenneth Ward and Dwight Estep.
Friends may gather with the family from 6-9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home where a special service will begin at 7 p.m.
