WHITMAN, W.Va. — James Robert “Jim Bob” Evans Sr., 83, of Whitman, passed away at his home Sunday, September 23, 2012, following a long illness and went home to be with the Lord.

Jim Bob, as he was known by his family and many friends, was well beloved in his community.

Born February 2, 1929, in Pike, Ky., he was a son of the late Dova Mae Evans. Also preceding him in death were his brothers Frank, Oscar, Tennis, Howard and Willard Evans, and one sister, Grace Evans Lyons.

Jim Bob was retired from C&O Railroad as well as the Logan Memorial Fieldhouse.

Left to mourn his passing and celebrate his life is his wife of 63 years, Geraldine Evans; sons, James Robert Evans Jr. and Johnny (Judy) Evans; daughter, Patricia (Tom) Caldwell; grandchildren, Jamie Evans, Candace Evans, Brian (Laura) Bowen, Christopher Bowen, Chad Baisden and Corey Baisden; great-grandchildren, Carlee Jade, Royce Kenneth, Kaleb Blake, Keira Dawn, Brooklyn Page, Abby Baisden, Christopher Stowers and Gabriel Baisden; also newly added to his family, more great-grandchildren, Katie, Josh and Autumn; two brothers, John (Helen) Evans of Hamilton, Ohio, and Clayton Evans of West Palm Beach, Fla., and a great many special nieces and nephews.

At Jim Bob’s request his body has been cremated. Friends and family may visit Jim Bob’s home to pay their respects to the family and also send cards (P.O. Box 742, Logan, WV 25601) or emails to jamesfuneralhome1@yahoo.com.

James Funeral Home of Aracoma is in charge of the arrangements.
