MADISON - Guard Jon Hamilton poured in 22 points and Scott downed Cardinal Conference foe Sissonville, 86-62 in front of an enthusiastic crowd at the Hawks Nest on Feb. 1 as the Skyhawks celebrated senior night.
The Skyhawk defense managed to hold Will Hackney to 8 points - which is 13 below his average that ranks him second in the conference in scoring.
"We had balanced scoring, which is a key for us, and we took care of the ball and limited our turnovers," said Scott coach Steve McComas.
After an 8-2 lead for Scott to open the game, Sissonville (3-11) came back in the opening quarter and took a brief, 22-20 lead over the Skyhawks. It would be the last lead they would see in the game as Scott went on a 24-9 run that saw them earn a 44-31 halftime advantage. Jagger Bell, Cole Moore and Hunter Adkins each scored 6 points in the opening frame as the team's leading scorer Hamilton began to warm up in the second, pouring in 6 of his own.
Uncharacteristically, Scott (12-7) did not have a 3-point bucket in the game but earned 19 steals as Gavin Cooper and Hamilton led the way with 5 each as Scott feasted in transition.
Moore was effective on the glass, as he notched a double-double with 15 boards and 14 points.
"I have told them all year when they play hard we are pretty good and if not we are average," added McComas. "When Cooper, Kuhn and Hamilton bring ball pressure, we feed off that and run the floor."
Hackney, Watson Mosteller and Dylan Griffith pulled Sissonville closer in the third as Scott led 64-53 after the third period, but the final frame was all Skyhawks as Scott went on a 25-9 run led by Hamilton and Dingess' 8 points each to close the door on the contest. Scott will play at Poca on Feb. 15.
