Blues musician Johnny Rawls will be providing the live entertainment at this year's West Virginia Fire and Ice Festival.

The Logan County Chamber of Commerce will host its third annual West Virginia Fire and Ice Festival on Friday, Sept. 21, at the Logan County Airport.

The one-day festival will have a variety of events, including a chili cook-off, craft beer tasting, silent auction, vintage cars and more. Nationally-known blues musician Johnny Rawls will perform.

Rawls has released more than a dozen albums and has been nominated for a Blues Music Award every year since 2002. His newest album, "Waiting for the Train," released in September 2017, has been recognized as one of the top 50 blues albums of the year by Roots Music Report.

"He's a festival favorite. We're lucky to get him in Logan," said Bob Noone, local adoption attorney. Noone Legal Services and White Eye Care are this year's entertainment sponsors.

Noone said he is a personal friend of Rawls and has booked him for several other events in the past, so it was a no-brainer when he suggested Rawls to Logan County Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Debrina Williams. Noone says he came to know Rawls several years ago through Dr. Ed White, who saw him live on a cruise.

"When the opportunity came to maybe amp the Fire and Ice event up a little bit, we talked it over, and we wanted to be able to provide Johnny to the Logan community," Noone said. "It's kind of our gift back to Logan.

"What better way to kick off fall than a chili cook-off?" Noone said. "What better way, now in year number three, than to enjoy craft beer and chili than to have blues, and not just blues - a blues legend - come to town?"

The Fire and Ice Festival begins at 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 21, at the Logan County Airport, 3247 Band Mill Hollow Road in Ethel.
