CHARLESTON A Logan businessman has been named the president of a statewide advocacy and trade organization for independent insurance agents.

The Independent Insurance Agents of West Virginia (IIAWV) on Monday announced its slate of officers and board of directors for 2019. Michael Winter, vice president of Bray & Oakley Insurance Agency, Inc., was named president of the organization.

"Our organization is lucky to have an exceptional and dedicated group of industry leaders helping guide the IIAWV's mission and activities," said IIAWV CEO Traci Nelson in a press release. "IIAWV helps improve the business interests of the member companies by increasing awareness of industry issues at the local, state and federal levels. In addition, the association sponsors and promotes seminars, legislative days and conventions, as well as providing educational resources to members."

Chris Parker, of Ferrell & Hill Insurance in Madison, was named as a member of the IIAWV board of directors.
