MOUNT GAY — Southern West Virginia Community and Technical College held its long-awaited ceremony introducing the school’s new mascot, “Bestfoot,” Monday morning.
The brief assembly was held inside the Savas Kostas Performing Arts Theater on the college’s Logan campus at Mount Gay. Following some opening remarks by Southern Communications Director Bill France, the new mascot, known as “Bestfoot,” made its confetti-laden debut on the stage.
Bestfoot is a character resembling the legendary creature Bigfoot. The character’s name is derived from Southern’s recent slogan initiative to put their “best foot forward.”
Following the unveiling inside the Savas Kostas, attendees of the assembly were treated to gift items, including small plush dolls, inside the school’s lobby. The new mascot could also be seen taking photos with attendees.
