MICCO – A man is dead following a two-vehicle accident in the Micco area of W.Va. 44 Tuesday morning.

Members of the Logan County Sheriff’s Department announced the fatal accident via a news release Wednesday. According to the release, deputies responded to the crash at 10:58 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 2.

Authorities say four people were entrapped in one vehicle, and two were entrapped in the other. All six individuals were later transported to Logan Regional Medical Center as trauma patients.

Deputies say their investigation determined that Joshua Akers, 24, was travelling south on W.Va. 44 when he crossed the center line and struck a vehicle driven by Pamela Chapman in the northbound lane.

Later Tuesday evening, a passenger in the northbound vehicle, Shawn Chapman, 27, died as a result of the injuries he received in the crash.

According to police, evidence of drug use was found in the vehicle driven by Akers, and charges are pending. An investigation is ongoing.
