Logan County will be represented in next week's West Virginia State Wrestling Meet by four athletes who have advanced to the state tournament. Logan High School's Justin Collins and Tyler Mileto and Man High School's Brandon Maynard and Gary Plumley qualified for state by placing in the top four in their respective weight classes during last Saturday's Class AA/A Region 4 wrestling tournament at Williamstown.

Collins, a 138-pound sophomore, carries a 28-14 record in the state tournament. He placed fourth in the regionals. Mileto (28-8) was third in the regional meet.

Wrestling in the state tournament is set to begin next Thursday at Huntington's Big Sandy Arena with the first session beginning at 6:30 p.m. and lasting through Friday. The state championships in each class are set to begin next Saturday at 6 p.m.

Collins will first face South Harrison junior Zach Hogsed (38-8) in the opening round, while Mileto will square off with Magnolia junior Mikey Hamrick (28-8).

Maynard's first round opponent is Independence sophomore John Sanders (5-3). Plumley will face East Fairmont senior Nate Kotsko (39-4).

Maynard, a 106-pound sophomore, carries a 23-9 record into the state tourney. He was fourth in the regional meet. Plumley (20-13), a 182-pound junior, was also fourth in the regionals.

Also in the regionals, Man 113-pound freshman Shane Hatfield finished fifth and closed out the season with a 30-6 record. Elijah Browning, a 138-pound sophomore, was fifth and finished at 26-8. Senior Daniel Browning (31-10) was sixth in his 145-pound weight class. Junior Trace Blair (18-18) was sixth in the 220 class.

Chapmanville Regional had three wrestlers place in the regionals but none qualified for state.

Josh Atwood, a 220-pounder, was fifth and finished the season with a 30-12 record. Jaxson Turner (17-13), a sophomore, was fifth and Lance Scott (14-14), another sophomore, was sixth.

Mingo Central had two wrestlers place in the regionals with 160-pound senior Ethan Irwin earning a state tourney berth. Irwin (35-6), who was third in the regionals, will face Clay County senior Joel Cruickshanks (45-6) in first round.

Mingo's Gavin Farley (24-10) was sixth in the 126-pound weight class.
