County basketball teams are scheduled to play in two upcoming showcase regular season tournaments - the Hatfield-McCoy Shootout at the Williamson Field House (January 11-12) and the Little General Shootout at the Big House (February 4-6) at West Virginia State's Walker Convocation Center.
Only one county team - the Man Hillbillies - are slated to take part in the Hatfield-McCoy Shootout. The Billies are scheduled to play Phelps, Kentucky on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. to begin Day Two action.
The tournament features 12 boys' games spread over two days. Eight of the contests pit West Virginia teams against those from Kentucky schools.
The Little General Shootout has 26 games scheduled during its three-day run, 18 boys games and eight girls games.
The Shootout will again be played at West Virginia State. In year's past, the event used to be held at the Charleston Civic Center.
Three county teams are on the schedule on the first day on Feb. 4. The Logan girls are matched up against River View at 11:30 a.m. Then the following game at 1 p.m., has Chapmanville taking on Class AAA Huntington.
The final game of the day has the Logan boys taking on Class AAA South Charleston at 8:45 p.m.
On the third day on Feb. 6, the Man boys are set to take on Point Pleasant at 2:30 p.m.
