LOGAN - The Logan Wildcats are rolling.

The Class AA No. 3-ranked Logan High School boys' basketball team won its fifth straight game with Friday night's 69-40 home win over the Herbert Hoover Huskies at Logan's Willie Akers Arena.

Logan improved to 9-1 overall and 5-0 in the Cardinal Conference with the win. Hoover dropped to 6-2, 3-2.

Mitchell Hainer paced Logan's balanced attack with 15 points. Cardinal Conference leading scorer David Early was held to 14 points. Drew Hatfield also tallied 14 points and Peter Noe finished with four points and 11 rebounds.

Freshman Devin Hatfield, Drew's little brother, tossed in nine points, while Chucky Felder netted seven. Tanner Lambert, Noah Cook and Carson Kirk had two each.

Rhett White pitched in 19 points for the Huskies.

Logan led 12-7 after one quarter, 27-14 at the half and 43-27 after three. The Wildcats outscored the Huskies 24-13 in the fourth.

Logan was scheduled to play at Wayne on Saturday night. The Cats host Nitro on Tuesday night in a league showdown. Tip off is set for 7:30 p.m. Logan then hosts Mingo Central on Jan. 22 before hosting the King Coal Classic Jan. 25-26 with games against Philip Barbour and George Washington.
